Pronunciation: These sound the same to me!
I don't understand the differences, in pronunciation for example between:ы and и з and сCan anyone help?

ы wird ein bischen wie eine mischung aus e,ü und i gesprochen während и deutlich wie i klingt.
з ist ein "weiches(stimmhaftes) s" wie in "Sonne", während с härter(stimmlos) klingt wie im Englischen "Sun". Der laut wird im deutschen oft mit "ss" oder "ß" geschrieben.

ы and и are considered the same vowel, but whereas the former follows hard consonants, the latter follows soft consonants. ы is pronounced with the middle part of the tongue protruding toward the palate, not the front part of the tongue, which is the case with и. Try saying the vowel at the end of 'Tasse' while simultaneously saying an и to produce an acceptable ы, if I dare say so myself.

Ich höre die russischen Buchstabe "и" wie "ie" im Wort "das Lied", "ы"- wie "i" im Wort "der Tisch". Ich weiß, es ist nicht sehr korrekt. Leider, kann ich die besesseren Beispiele nicht finden.
