To be or not to be in Korean.

I am a little confused about the possibilities to say something is not something.
First you have the verb to be and a special verb for not be.
이다 = ida = the verb to be.
아니다 = a-nida= the verb not to be

But you can also put 안, an, in front of a form of 이다. The only difference seems to be that the ㄴ is in a different syllable. I mean it’s 안이다, instead of 아니다. Is it actually 100% the same or not? What is the difference.?

Then another, but minor strange thing is the word for ‘No’, is almost the same thing as, ‘It is not’:
아니요. [aniyó] = No.
아니에요 [a-ni-é-yó] = It is not

If you say아니에요 quickly it almost automatically turns into아니요, but perhaps that is exactly how the word originated.

Your are right. you can put 안 in front of something you want to make negative meaning. For example 안 하다, 안 보다, 안 듣다, 안 먹다
However, in case of 아니다, It's not 안이다, because it's hard to pronounce.
Therefore the ㄴ is got rid of from the first letter and goes to the second, and then the ㄴ replace with O of 이, like 아니다. It's easier. Never use 안이다, when you want to say it's not. Meaning of 안이다 is I'm inside.

I can explain it by following example.
    a pencil a house
an apple an hour ('n' goes to the next letter when you pronounce, a napple)
not a apple not a hour
