how to understand the “needs to be jumped”?
“So what’s wrong with your car?” Emma asked. Ethan shrugged. “It probably just needs to be jumped. I’ll deal with it tomorrow.”

Here, "jumped" means "charged with electricity". When the battery in a car is dead, you "jump" or "jump-start" it, using "jump cables" (see below)

Jumper cables = 跳线电缆
When a stranger asks, "Do you need a jump?" in this circumstance, it is usually when your car cannot start and a stranger is offering to use their car to help start yours with jumper cables. Otherwise, I can't think of another instance when "needs to be jumped" is used. Very specific.
