I think the better translation should be "反而成了"“反倒成了” but not "反成".
We didn't use it. It is not a fixed word group in Chinse language.

"反成了" means reverse. (你认为是我给了他那苹果，结果反成了他给了我那苹果)You think i gave him the apple,but the reverse is true:he gave it to me.
