Where can you buy "soft? ice cream" in Italy?

I'm Japanese. I've traveled around Italy for a month before.
I love ice cream and gelato, too.
I always ate gelato in Italy.

But when I was in Verona, I could buy soft "ice cream", it's not gelato.
Where can you get it in Italy?

Japanese has two types of ice cream.
One is ice cream and another is "soft cream" which is Japanese-English.

Thank you for your help. Grazie mille.
