Does "brown-nosing" mean the same as "wheedling" and "insinuating"?

    Hi Sasha!

    No, brown-nosing does not mean wheedling or insinuating. All of them are similar when used in a suggestive manner, but the purpose of each is vastly different.

    wheedling=begging in a persuasive way
    insinuating=suggesting something indirectly, usually something bad
    brown-nosing=ass-kissing the boss to get approval
