    It can also be used when someone "upstages" or "one-ups" you.

    Examples:

    "I worked for ten hours on my homework yesterday." "Well you got me beat, after 6 hours I got too tired."

    "I don't drive a very nice car, it's just an old station wagon." "Well you got me beat, I don't even have a car!"

    You can also say something like "I'm beat", although this often refers to being really tired or exhausted.

    It means: I do not know the answer. I cannot figure it out. The question has me stumped.
    Ex: Sally: What's the largest lake in the world? Bob: You got me beat.
