    Es tut mir leid means I'm really sorry, because something bad/sad happened to you, or I'm really sorry, I wish I could help you, but I can't.
    Entschuldigung means sth like I'm sorry/excuse me, i.e. when you want to ask about sth, you did sth wrong or interrupt someone. Examples:
    Es tut mir leid, dass ich dich verletzt habe. (I'm sorry that I hurt you)
    Entschuldigung, könnten Sie mir helfen? (Excuse me, could you help me?)
