How can i say

yesterday i agreed with my friend to meet her in the cafe.
and what is the difference between using Perfekt or Pratäritum in this situation?

    I'll try to answer to my best knowledge but maybe someone can cross check. :]

    Perfekt:
    Gestern habe ich mit meiner Freundin ausgemacht sie im Cafe zu treffen.

    Präteritum:
    Gestern machte ich mit meiner Freundin aus sie im Cafe zu treffen.

    The difference lies in the temporal relevance of your message. Perfekt suggests a meaning of your message/action in the present. So, if you say it in Perfekt most people would assume you meet your friend today or sometime soon. As for Präteritum one could assume that it your meeting isn't of relevance for the present. For example you could use the Präteritum to prepare another sentence:

    Gestern machte ich mit meiner Freundin aus sie im Cafe zu treffen. Und plötzlich hörte ich im Telefon ein seltsames Knacken.
