So trying to prepare someone for a job that is not yet there is pretty difficult.

    You have to look at the context of this sentence, you have the word "job" and the word "there". therefore the meaning of "yet" in this sentence is that you are preparing someone for a job that "does not exist, but is in process and will be ready soon".

    that is what Yet means in this sentence.
