How to make this sentence more natural?
Singing with a hat on has been institutionalized as a new convention.
(I am trying to make this sentence more natural and relevant to this definition: Establish (something, typically a practice or activity) as a convention or norm in an organization or culture.) Which is found in google definition.
*Also if anyone asks me on why I am asking these sentences to be corrected despite being a native speaker, I am doing this because I just want to get rid of much awkward phrasing as possible and improve my English. So please don't post any comments regarding to how I a native English speaker, my italki profile and other things which are irrelevant to my question.

I don't know. That's a strange sentence. When I think of intitutionalized, I think of what happens to prisoners or mental patients who have been locked up for a long time.
You might try:
Singing with a hat on has become very popular in many societies.
Singing with a hat on is now the new style in pop culture.
Or if you really want to take it down low:
Singing with a hat on is now the new 'thing'.
