A friend just arrives from a flight.
You say
kal'os 'irthes (καλώς ήλθες), which is a little formal but still proper for a friend,
kal'os irthate ( καλώς ήλθατε) - which is formal and plural
If it is a close friend you just give a hug an whisper 'ja' (γειά) :)
