Is watching Japanese anime with subtitles a good way of learning Japanese?

    Personally, I find that watching shows or movies without subtitles is more effective in terms of language learning. If I have subtitles on, I tend to read them no matter how much I think I'm ignoring them. They stand in the way of my ability to place my full attention on the words that are being spoken.

    Also, I would be careful about using anime as your main study tool. There tends to be a lot of unusual vocabulary or less-than-polite sentences. But if you're using anime along with other study tools, then go for it! Listening to something you're interested in will definitely help you in learning Japanese. :)
