    A modal verb "can" may means either "-ㄹ 수 있다(showing an ability)" or "-도 된다(showing a permission)", you know, and "to do (something)" means "(무엇을) 하다", so the sentence, "you can do it" can have two meanings, like these.

    "너는 그것을 할 수 있다." or "너는 그것을 해도 된다".
