Epa and Opa?

Often times I hear Portuguese from Portugal use 'Epa'. Brazilians from Brazil use 'Opa' more than 'Epa'... I think so atleast. What do these words mean and when can I use them?

I know 'Opa' is used in Greek as well when something drastic happens like a plate smashing. LOL.

Can you please leave an example?

Demonstra surpresa .
