    If you are talking about some effort that was made for the person in question, or perhaps money spent on them, then 'deserve' and 'worth' are both correct.
    However, if you are talking about some praise or prize, we would only use 'deserve', since praise doesn't take that much effort and we aren't supposed to think about the cost of an award. To say that someone is 'worth' an award would be considered in poor taste. The only exception would be money as an award and then only in certain circumstances.
    'Deserve' is always the safe alternative.
