What does a word with"ㅆ" mean?

I always saw a word like "가" and "이" adding "ㅆ" with them. What is "ㅆ" means?

    You mean: 갔다, 있다?
    "ㅆ" by itself has no meaning but added to most verbs it makes them past tense unless they already have it in the verb base like 있다

    가다 - to go
    가요 - go
    갔어요 - gone

    보다 - to see/to watch/to look at
    봐요 - see, watch
    봤어요 - saw, watched
