because 'gale lagna' means to 'embrace'.

"Lag ja gale" or "Gale milna" or "Gale lagana". All means same hugging to show Affection, Acceptance, Embrace etc.

Embrace is to Hold (someone) closely in one's arms. Lag jaa gale is indian slang to embrace someone because you cross each others necks (more or less) when you hug someone.
