I think this kind of a -ing expression is used in reports for science, the police, analysis, etc. For example...
    1. 12시에 A씨가 B씨와 카페에서 만남. (Person A met Person B at a cafe at 12.)
    2. 1시에 A씨가 가게를 떠남. (Person A left the cafe at 1.)
    3. 2시에 B씨도 가게를 떠남. (Person B left the cafe at 2.)

Like this, you use this ing expression at the end of the word or sentence to sound it short and objective.

For one more example, yougn people use this kind of the ing expression for daily conversation. (it is a recent phenomenon. They call it "Eumseum-che") So they make every end of the sentence with 음, 함, like this.

    For example,

instead of "오늘 친구랑 카페에 갔어요." (I went to a cafe with my friend today.)

they write "오늘 친구랑 카페에 갔음."

There could be other ways to use it but those two cases are what come to my mind first. I hope it helps :)
