Whcih one is better? :D

1.There is still a sense of the story would have been true.
2.There is still a sense that the story would have been true.
3. There is still a sense of THAT the story would have been true.

I used to hear the sentence 1 : There is still a sense of the story would have been true, is it because the speaker leaves out a THAT? so the correct format is a sense of THAT the story would have been true? a sense of + noun or subject clause, right?

so if that is the case, what is the difference between sentence 2 and sentence 3 above?which one is better?
Thank you~~

    2. Is correct.
1 and 3 are incorrect and unnatural.
In a different tense, 1 could be written as "There is still a sense of the story having been true." However, it doesn't mean the same thing.
'Of' and 'that' are used in two different ways and would not be used together.
