Adjective declension after possessive adjective

I know that attributive adjectives in German have a termination according to the article (among other things) that precedes them. So we have three cases: definite article, indefinite article, without article.

But what if I have a possessive adjective before the attributive adjective, like in "mein gute Freund"?
I know that possessive adjectives take the same terminations as ein/kein.
So when inflecting "gute" in other cases (and with other genres), should I do as if that adjective was preceded by the indefinite article?

Thanks for your clarifications!
