    They are essentially the same, but forms of these words are different. The word "They" is at the start of this answer. The word "They" is at the beginning of this answer. They can also be used in the same way. I am beginning to answer questions. I am starting to answer questions. I began yesterday. I started yesterday. The word "begin" is irregular (begin, began, begun) whereas "start" is regular (start, started).
