Negative expression of the verb yào 要 (to want)?

Is it correct in that the negative expression of the verb (dòngcí 动词) yào 要 is bù xiǎng 不 想 ?

And not bú yào 不 要 ?

Example (Lìzi 例子):

Wǒ yào qù túshūguǎn. 我 要 去 图书馆.

Then the negative would be: Wǒ bù xiǎng qù túshūguǎn. 我 不 想 去 图书馆..

If you are saying you want to do something, you can use either 想/要 as both mean "to want, though differ in degree. If you want to negate either of these, all you have to do is add a 不 in front of it, as 不想/不要.

For example, in the example you provided (我要去圖書館), the negative form of that would be "I do not want to go to the library" or 我不要去圖書館。Alternatively, you can also say 我不想去圖書館.

    it's 不要
what is given in your example (不想) expresses no wish of doing smth

    so it's 要 -- 不要
    and
    想 -- 不想
