    tash-ad
    or: ha-tash-ad = התשע"ד
    but it's both common.

in fact, the numbers in the old hebrew it's letters.
    so ת=400, ש=300, ע=70, ד=4. which is all 774.
    the ה refers to 5000.

You can also say the letters, considering it's an acronym. The ה is usually dropped, because the millennium changes rather rarely. So it's said as "taph, shin, ayin, daled."
