In what situations does "ㅅ" or "ㅆ" make a "t" kind of sound?

In what situations does "ㅅ" or "ㅆ" make a "t" kind of sound? I've noticed that when "ㅅ" or "ㅆ" are on the the bottom like in "것" it is a "t" sound and not an "s" sound. Can anyone help? Greatly appreciated! ~<3
