Some books say that an alternative pronunciation of 其 qí is jī, and the meaning of 其 jī should be "anniversary".
Is that true?

    Yes, when 其 is pronounced "ji", it means the Han ( A Dynasty in Chinese history) people. But it is rarely used.

    Yes, another pronunciation of 其 is jī. But nowadays people don't use this pronunciation. 其 jī used to be used for names, the most famous of which was 郦食其(Lì Yìjī ).
