Kunsthonig - what does this mean?

I saw this word today in a book I was translating. There was no definition in two dictionaries (including Oxford) I consulted, although I think maybe it translates literally as 'art-honey' ??? This is meaningless in English. I forget the exact context and the book is at a library, not with me. Danke.

It's an artificial ("künstlich") honey-like substance made from inverted sugar-syrup (Invertzucker). It was used for example during World War 2 when there was no really honey to buy.

"Kunst-" doesn't mean "art" but "artificial" in this context.
