are they correct? is the usage of thus as a conjunction corrct?

    1. Correct except for a typo - remain
    Whether to say "data is" or "data are" is actually under debate. Personally, I would (and do) say "data is" despite the fact that data is technically plural. This is because it is used as a singular, since you are referring to a whole bunch of information with a common factor. As a result, "data are" sounds wrong.

    Your usage of "thus" is correct here, just don't forget the comma previous to it. It sounds much better to pause beforehand.

    2 Is more difficult to correct because we are not robots and we do not suffer from technological breakdowns.
    A possible alternative: "We often experience the effects of technological breakdowns; thus we are temporarily kept from utilizing technology-based products."
