    Both sentences have awkward construction.

In the first sentence, the difficulty is the use of the negative "not" or "not only".
If you remove the negative, and write a positive statement, it is easier to communicate your idea.

Example: "I can make friend with foreigners generally, even if we do not have much in common."

It would be far better however, to express your thought this way, which is more positive and friendly:

"I am confident that we can find common interests. Foreign friends are welcome."

Sentence 2 can be expressed like this:

"I am very fond of English, which has many benefits."

    or

"I am very fond of practicing English with Foreign Speakers."

"Practicing English with Foreign Speakers is very beneficial." (or..."helpful")
