    MASCULINE
    Nouns ending with a consonant followed by an Alif - ex: Lerka - لڑكا
    Nouns ending with a "ha" (ه) (pronounced -a) - ex:Qissa-قصه

    FEMININE
    All nouns ending in "-î" or "-îya" - ex : Lerkî لڑكى (girl)
    All nouns ending in "-t" or "-et" or "-at" - ex: Jennet جنت (heaven)
    All nouns ending in "-gî" - ex: Zindegî زندگى (Life)

    baat ends in (at) thats why its considered feminine .. and in urdu the adj follows the same rule of the thing that you are describing.. yeh (buri) (baat) hai .. baat is fem, so we used buri ..
