The car had to have been driven = Der Auto hat gefahren worden sein müssen or Der Auto musste gefahren worden sein

    It doesn't make a lot of sense to direcly translate English tenses into German tenses, because tenses and subjunctive/Konjunktiv are used differently in both languages.

    Yes, both sentences are correctly translated in some sort of literal sense. Depending on the context, one might or might not use them this way, or one might use something completely different.
