cannot or can not?

I think you should write cannot with no space between them, but is this always the case, and why? You don't write rannot or bannot.

    Technically both are correct, but you will rarely see anyone write "can not", I think most English speakers would view that as incorrect. Perhaps if you really want to emphasize the fact that something is NOT possible "can not" might be more acceptable. I hope that helps!
