月饼,(拼音:yuè bǐng,英文:Moon cake),象征着团圆和睦,在中秋节这一天的传统食物。Mooncake is a Chinese bakery product traditionally eaten during the Mid-Autumn Festival (Zhongqiujie). The festival is for lunar worship and moon watching, when mooncakes are regarded as an indispensable delicacy. Mooncakes are offered between friends or on family gatherings while celebrating the festival. The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the four most important Chinese festivals. Most mooncakes consist of a thin, tender pastry skin enveloping a sweet, dense filling, and may contain one or more whole salted egg yolks in their center as the symbol of the full moon.I am from Guangzhou( Southern China). We eat Cantonese mooncake, like Hong Kong, and Macau does . The rich thick filling of mooncake usually made from red bean or lotus seed paste is surrounded by a thin (2–3 mm) crust and may contain yolks from salted duck eggs. Mooncakes are usually eaten in small wedges accompanied by Chinese tea.
Hope can help you have an idea of the Mooncake (月饼).
