    When used as a noun, a present is something bestowed as a gift, such as a "Christmas Present." When used as a verb, to present is to furnish something, even a gift, to someone or something: "I am honored to present you this gift."
    As Mari said; there are other meanings unrelated to "giving", but I think this was the context you were asking about, Elena.
