Which one should I use when talking to my boss who is also my friend: 'Usted' or 'Tú'?

Is it a question that I can ask him or would that be rude?

I think this is depend of the situations. If you are with your boss in a job, it´s better to use ´´usted´´, but if you are in another activities, is better use ´tú´.

It depends on the company and the country you are working in.
In Spain, is very common to use "usted" and only "tú" if you have a close relationship with your boss in every company.
Although, I may be wrong about this but I believe in other countries like France or England you have to be very respectful while adressing your boss in every context and in every moment.
So, just in case, always adress your boss by "usted"
