Ni eller du?

I thought nowadays only "du" is used since 1960-s. It seems i was mislead and "Ni" is now reviving. Should one clearly distinguish between ni and du?

You can always use "du". You sometimes hear "ni" at hotels/restaurants, where they make a point of being extra formal/polite to you. But it is not required, and may even seem a bit funny.

Also, "ni" is always used for second person plural.
