    I would say:

    I almost cried.
    I'm having a hard time holding back my tears./ I'm having a hard time not crying.
    I can barely hold back my tears./ I can barely keep myself from crying.

     

    "I'm so moved" is correct, but it's usually used in the past tense: 'I was so moved'
    I was deeply moved by your letter.

    affected, stirred, touched, impressed

    I almost cried. (past tense)
    I almost cry when I chop onions
    I almost cry every time I watch that sad puppy video.

    -I'm having difficulty not to cry.
    I'm struggling not to cry.
