What's the difference between words big and large?

    Big = large in size - a big garden, man, defeat, explosion
    Large = of considerable size, extent or capacity - A large family.
    But usually, they can both be used for the same meaning.

    i think LARGE has to do with something's length,like -what a large carpet. U cant say what a big carpet!
