"Beş" in "Beş parasız" In Turkish, "beş parasız" means "penniless". What does "beş" (five) mean here?

Do not look for a proper meaning in it. These are expressions, so there is no seperate reasons of each word, but together. You need to learn it as if it was one word: Beş parasız means 'broke', 'penniless'. Bugün beş parasızım: I don't have any money today/ I'm broke today.
