robbery.theft I know rob and steal are used for different things.but are robbery and theft different too?

Yes. Slightly. Robbery is more used if the person you are robbing is present, whereas theft is when they are not there. It's not black and white though. People will typically say 'I got robbed' even when they were not present. Perhaps that is because it's just too hard to say 'I got stolen from'...
