Does "go trekking" and "go hiking" mean the same?

in my opinion,trekking takes more distance,time and intensity than hiking

They are both walking sports. Trekking lasts more than one day generally sleeping in a camp while hiking lasts some hours.

I agree with all of the above. Trekking is more strenuous and lasts more than a day. Hiking is easier and can mean just a walk in a nearby forest or up a small hill. "I went trekking in Nepal last year with my friends." " I'm going hiking tomorrow. Do you want to go with me?"

While I'm definitely not great outdoors-man, to my ears "to go hiking" implies a mountain (on foot) (hike up a mountain), while "to go trekking" is a more general term for outdoor adventure. I think you can even go trekking in car/vehicle of some sort! hope that helps!
