You can also listen to music and songs. If you look up the lyrics of English songs, you will learn new vocabulary words and a lot of colloquial phrases. I think that music is one of the most entertaining ways to learn new vocab words. You can read short articles in the news and highlight words you don't understand, then look them up later. You can watch TV shows and movies with subtitles on, and if there's a word that you really don't understand, then you can look it up. I would take all of the words you don't understand and put them into flash cards. That way, you'll really start memorizing the words. Also, try to use the words when you're speaking! If you're ever talking in English with someone, use a new word that you're trying to remember. I've been told that if you use a word four times, you'll have a really good chance of remembering it.

when learning another language I always turn to reading, and any unfamiliar word I highlight or write down and look up later and add those words to my vocabulary list of words to memorize. I also you an application (on my phone) called "duolingo" i find it very helpful, I also use another application (on phone and computer) called "cram.com" it has different ways to use flash cards that you create. both of these are easy to use and can be used anytime you have a few free minutes. I find that a person should study at least 1 hour a day if you are serious about learning a language, I think I study a total of 3 hours a day throughout the day using these different tools. I only read for about 20 minutes a day every 2 days, or watch/listen for 20 minutes per day every other day....I spend most of my study time studying grammar or vocabulary. i hope this helps!! oh! also I wrote a similar posting in the discussion area and received a lot of feedback...you might consider posting this question there :)
