You can also listen to music and songs. If you look up the lyrics of English songs, you will learn new vocabulary words and a lot of colloquial phrases. I think that music is one of the most entertaining ways to learn new vocab words.
You can read short articles in the news and highlight words you don't understand, then look them up later.
You can watch TV shows and movies with subtitles on, and if there's a word that you really don't understand, then you can look it up.
I would take all of the words you don't understand and put them into flash cards. That way, you'll really start memorizing the words.
Also, try to use the words when you're speaking! If you're ever talking in English with someone, use a new word that you're trying to remember. I've been told that if you use a word four times, you'll have a really good chance of remembering it.
