Question about possessives In Italian, I understand how possessives require an article: "il mio barbiere", not "mio barbiere" However, when talking about relatives, there is no article: "mia sorella", not "la mia sorella" But when talking about more than one relative, there is an article: "le mie sorelle", not "mie sorelle" È questo corretto? Gracie!

Yes. An exception is when you talk about your great grandfather/grandmother: "IL mio bisnonno" and "LA mia bisnonna".

If a specifier follows (or sometimes precedes) the term, you usually need the article: -- la mia sorella piccola -- il mio buon papa` -- il mio grande papa` -- {il, un} mio zio che vive a Venezia Observe the following, which are all correct: (following Daniel's suggestion) -- mio nonno, quello che faceva l'astronauta -- il mio nonno astronauta -- il mio bisnonno, che lavorava come programmatore -- il mio bisnonno, che ha sempre lavorato come programmatore di computer
