Two questions 1. Answer please which of two sentences sounds more natural: "I don't think so", he said as much to himself as to her. "I don't think so", he said rather to himself than to her. 2. Is there a positive or negative meaning on the second sentence: "Roads can be found. But not until ye look for them."?

Both sound correct to me in number one but they mean different things. The second sentence doesn't sound negative to me. This person is just saying somethimg can be done if you try hard enough. Is this pirate speech though? The word "ye" is so and something you would hear in pirate movie.
