The differences between "как", "в качестве" & "будучи"...what are they exactly?
Hey guys.
I would have written this in Russian, but I'm going after the finer points of the language, so I need to be certain I'm expressing myself accurately.
Are the differences between "как", "в качестве" and "будучи", when used to mean "as", simply a matter of formality? Or do they run deeper than that?
I have a feeling "будучи" is only used for animate nouns, but the other two remain unclear.
Как скромный мужчина -- As a modest man
В качестве скромного мужчины -- As a modest man
Будучи скромным мужчиной -- As a (being a) modest man
I've noticed that these words overlap significantly in what they communicate in certain contexts, but I may be wrong, and that's why I'd greatly appreciate your input.
Тем не менее, если Вам удобнее вместо объяснить на русском, то пожалуйста сделайте так.
Спасибо!
