is there any idiom in this situation I want to say something good about myself, but need to point out it is not because I say so Example:"I am a great chef not that I say myself" Is there any expression for this situation. Thanks very much for any help you can provide in this matter.

You could use "not to toot my own horn". Another possibility is "not to pat myself on the back." Not to toot my own horn, but I am a great chef. http://onlineslangdictionary.com/meaning-definition-of/pat-(one's-self)-on-the-back

Maybe something like.. ~ I have been told that I'm good at swimming. ~ They say I'm good with words.

Well, i think it could be the expresión "if uou will", you could say: i am, if you will, a good chef It is suponed to be a sophisticated expresión, but i think it can serve the purpose you are looking for....not an expert here, though!..i hope you get more opinions on this
