Was bedeutet "Sagst du es dem Kellner" ?
Since there is a Dativ here, i think...should there be a preposition in front of the "dem" ?

    No, "sagen" can have a direct object (accusative case, "es") and an indirect one (dative case, "dem Kellner"), no preposition needed. A very literal translation would be "do you say it to the waiter?"
