The word "ærbødig" is rarely used, as it is a very formal word. Like, if you got an invitation from the king, and would like to thank him for the invitation, you could write "takker aller ærbødigst for invitasjonen". "Ærbødig" is partly originated from the word "ære", which means "honour". A person can be "ærbødig"; this would be a person who shows a lot of respect. You can also use it at the end of a letter, "Deres ærbødigste (name)". I think this would be like the english "yours sincerely". But as I said, it is a very formal world. "Skåne" is a synonym to the word "beskytte" = "protect". If you are watching a movie with a child, and there is a scary scene, you would probably want to protect the kid from seeing the scene. Here you can use the word "skåne". "Du skåner barnet mot grusomheten" = "you are protecting the child from the cruelty". (Directly translated: "you protect child against cruelty"...)
