We are expecting/hoping name/him/her to win the trophy. We are expecting/hoping name/him/her will be the winner of the trophy. Expect means you are almost certain it will happen. Hope means you want it to happen, but aren't sure it will.

1) We are waiting for "name he/she" won the trophy. 2) We are waiting for "name he/she" is the winner of the trophy. Note: this is from Google Translate and may not be 100% accurate.

Los demas tiene el sentido de lo que quieres decir, pero la traduccion en mi opinion que seria la mejor es: 1.) We're hoping that Maria wins the trophy. 2.) We're hoping that Maria is the trophy winner **Lo que pasa es que en ingles no usamos el subjuntivo mucho, pues hay que cambiar la traduccion para hacer sonar mas natural **Lo mismo pasa en la segunda frase en la que normalmente, si, si se puede decir "the winner of the trophy" pero normalmente deriamos "the trophy winner" Ahora que viste mi correcion tan explicada con detalles y todo, responde a mi mensaje que te envie! jajaja
