Hi! What should I translate "sole outlier" in this sentence? Rogolin et al provided sole outlier; in their study, approximately 20% of patients with a complete normal cytogenetics assay had additional findings revealed by FISH; in the remaining studies, the false negative rate for conventional cytogenetics was lesser than 2.8%.

Outlier is a word used in statistics for a result which lies outside the usual parameters or range. In all the other studies, the false negative rate was less (NB not lesser) than 2.8%. In the Rogolin study, however, the figure fell outside this range. This was the only outlier (ie the only result over 2.8%) - so it was a 'sole outlier'.
